Archive: Gilles Peterson Meets David Rodigan
Warning: This post might be a bit/a lot self-indulgent.
For over a year I’ve been meaning to upload this show to my much neglected radio production portfolio, and finally today I had some spare time to do it…. Luckily, I discovered it’s already online through GP Worldwide, so I thought I’d save myself the work and just embed here instead!
Rodigan came down to the Radio 1 studios on the 28th of June 2011, ahead the weekly 2am live show. Gilles and David ended up chatting for close to 2 hours so this show could have been a 4 hour monster, but as that wasn’t going to fly with the execs at Radio 1, I had to be pretty ruthless with the edit.
It was a pleasure to meet Rodigan, and hear him speak. It was one of those evenings where I felt privileged to be in the room, hearing the story of a living legend. He’s a guy who has had the balls, talent and dedication to do exactly what he was meant to do, which is always inspiring to see.
Respect to him.
The show aired on Radio 1 a week later, 6th of July 2011.
